Stimulus Effect of Solvents on Cadmium Sulfide Quantum Dots Prepared for Solar Cell Application

Cadmium Sulfide quantum dots were prepared in three solvents such as distilled water, ethanol, and isopropyl alcohol respectively. Solvent dependence of cadmium sulfide was investigated under XRD, TEM, UV, PL, J–V characteristics. The results showed CdS with sizes ranging from 7.5, 8.2, to 9 nm which enabled the control optical properties consequently solar cell performance. absorption spectrum observed near ultra-violet region. Absorbance spectra reveal that there is a blue shift absorbance dot size decreases due confinement effect. For photoluminescence spectra, emission peaks at 430 nm, 468 470 Among solvents, ethanol has highest power conversion efficiency 0.68%.
